Running through the heart of Hazelwood Schools are our values: Trust, Creativity, Fairness, Respect, Ambition, Kindness, Resilience, Appreciation and Understanding, Teamwork, Honesty, Courage and Responsibility. All members of our community believe in and show our values every day. Through discussion during our Hazel Hoot assemblies, the children suggested that we use the colours of our values on Hazel so all the colours you see are used in our values images. Once we had our colour scheme, we began to think about the design. Being active members of our community is vital to our pupils so our design was based on providing the opportunity for all children to decorate Hazel. Continuing our community theme, we were very lucky to have a parent draw the design on Hazel, a teacher wrote our motto of ‘Believe and Achieve’ on Hazel’s sash and even a local paint company donated all the paint you see. Every coloured space on Hazel was completed by a pupil at Hazelwood – from Nursery to Year 6. We believe our design shows that individuality is important and, when individuals work together, you can create something beautiful together. We feel Hazel is a true representative of Hazelwood Schools.
